Dear St. Bernard Families,
Another year has flown by! Thank you for the opportunity to teach your child. We strive to offer a unique learning atmosphere that allows children to develop their God given talents. We appreciate the support that you have given us over the last year and look forward to your support in the coming year.
There will be some changes for this next year they are as follows:
- + Mrs. Penry will be teaching Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and will be have Reading and Lang. Arts to 6th – 8th. She will also teach Art to all grades and will have all grades for Library.
- + Mrs. Walsh will be teaching two of the upper Math classes.
- + I will be teaching a mix of 5th and 6th grade Math and 3-8 Science.
- + Miss Brown will be teaching her 3rd – 5th graders and also 6th – 8th Social Studies.
Kindergarten Screening – We have decided to wait to screen our Kindergartners until the beginning of the school year. This way we can make sure that we have them in the appropriate level of their class.
Wednesday Tech Days – I will have my classroom open for those St. Bernard students who would like to work on tinkercad, robots, or other projects. It will be open after Mass on Wednesdays until noon. Please call before you come.
Summer Reading Challenge – There have been a few students that have been on MyON and are reading up a storm. A reasonable goal is to read 20 to 30 minutes a day. When we are back in school we will honor those who have read the most minutes, the most books, scored the highest avg. in comprehension, toughest book read, and number of days consecutively read.
6th - 8th Parent Meeting – I would like to meet with parents from the 6th through 8th grade to discuss trips and fund raisers for this next school year. On June 22nd from 7:00 – 7:30. Please let us know if you are unable to attend so that we make sure we send the information to you.
Summer, a Time to Enjoy – We have had an amazing year this past year and your children deserve a break. I hope that they enjoy this time with their family and friends and that they spend time in the outdoors. I also hope that they enroll in one of the summer reading opportunities at the area libraries.
Peace to you and yours,
Mary Obringer, Teacher/Principal
