Dear St. Bernard Families,

Thank you to all of you who met with teachers during conferences.  We will send home test results next week when the Diocese has closed testing so that we can include that information also.  We will using this testing to focus our teaching.  The 3rd – 7th graders will be reviewing their past goals and setting new goals as soon as all of the results are in.

Robot Club is morphing into a Maker Space.  We do not have the facilities available to be a “true” Maker Space but that won’t stop us from creating our own version of one.  Due to a very generous donation from a parishioner, we were able to purchase sets of Lego blocks, wheels, doors etc… that will enable children of all ages to build and design.  Two WeDo 2.0 kits were ordered to extend the elementary students design abilities.  We also purchased 2 Basic Arduino kits that will push our kids to build and code using the kit’s microcontroller components.  We are blessed with curious students and generous parishioners.  Only great things can happen!

Cardboard Boat Competition – the 2nd – 4th graders have been invited to compete in a competition where they are asked to build a cardboard boat and then paddle it down and back in a pool.  Sounds interesting doesn’t it?  We will keep you informed on their progress!

Tri County Spelling Bee – Max Phillips placed 4th out of 34 spellers!  Great Job Max!!!!!

Updating Website – By the time you read this the website should be up and running.  There are still some areas to tweak, but this new design will allow us to post “Latest News” on the Home page that can be scrolled through.  This will have the 2nd page articles on it.  Please visit the website at   www.nwstbernard.org  Also take a look at our face book page at St. Bernard School, New Washington.

Peace to you and yours,

Mary Obringer

Teacher/Principal

Thank You
