St. Bernard Families,
Well, we finally may be able to take a breath and enjoy some sunshine. It has been quite a rollercoaster ride! I hope that your family will find some time to relax and enjoy the Summer.
I have turned in a Calendar for next year to the Diocese. When it is finalized we will get it to you. It follows Buckeye Central's calendar pretty closely. There are three main differences:
We will start preparing for school the first week of August with a Tech Camp. At the end of the camp we are planning to have a Yay Technology Celebration that will enable the students to share what they have learned with their families and will allow families to ask questions and explore the technology themselves.
We will start school on the 10th of August with a soft opening which will allow parents to bring their children to school at a particular time so that we do not have a line of vehicles in the parking lot. You will need to transport your students this week.
Easter Break will be the week after Easter, with no days taken away for snow days.
I know this is an adjustment for you and your children. As things stand at this moment, we have the ability to have our students attend class in the Fall. We will be taking the necessary precautions that are requested by the Crawford County Health Department, the Diocese of Toledo and the Ohio Department of Education. At this moment, the information is pretty fluid. We will continue to send out newsletters as more information becomes available.
On Monday afternoon I will be meeting with the School Advisory Council to go over the plan in more detail and to get their input. Hopefully I will be able to share more information next Friday.
I want to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. If we must return to virtual learning at some time this next school year, I want it to be a painless transition. I do not want to put the responsibility of teaching solely on our parents. I also do not want our students to struggle with technology while trying to learn. I am hoping the steps we will set into place will prevent that.
As I said in the last newsletter, the teachers and I will be attending quite a few professional development sessions on how to best use technology while in the classroom and while at home.
8th Grade Graduation- will be on June 23rd. There is limited seating and pews have been reserved for families.
Sacraments - All Sacraments have been moved to the Fall.
Yearbooks - are still available for $15.00. It is all in color!
If you need to contact me, the Summer hours are from 9:00 - 3:00 in the month of June. The school will be closed the month of July. If it is an Emergency, please do not hesitate to contact me via my cell phone.
Peace, Health and a Warm Summer to you and yours,
