Dear St. Bernard Families,

This morning was chilly!  Unless the temperature is predicted to be over 75 or 80, shorts should not be worn.  As a reminder, children will go out to recess as long as it is above 20 and not raining.

October and May are the months that the Catholic Church honors Mary.  We will begin praying the Rosary once a week on Wednesdays with classes 2-8.  It would really be wonderful if you could find time to pray the Rosary as a family.  I have a cool app on my phone called iRosary. It was free and convenient.

Father George has made it a priority for our students, school staff and parishioners to feel that they are a part of a community.  I certainly see that happening in the classrooms, and we certainly appreciate the help and level of commitment to the school from the parish.  We would like to extend this community to Father George also. Think of some ways to include him in our everyday lives.

Mothers Club - This past Thursday was the second Mothers Club meeting of St. Bernard School’s Mothers Club.  We began Mothers Club to encourage a sense of community among mothers and grandmothers. Our next meeting will be the first Thursday of November.  Attendees are asked to bring canned or boxed goods as a donation to the New Washington Food bank. There will be a craft and a St. Nick activity. In December, we will have a guest speaker doing a presentation on handwriting.

School Advisory Council - October’s meeting was held on October 3rd and many things were discussed. The council will meet on the first Thursday of every month at 4:30.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Lunch Helpers Needed - Do you have an hour to help us out doling out food and then doing some dishes?  If this appeals to you and you would like to join our Blazer team, please give Mrs. King a call at 419-492-2693

Fleece Jackets - Are at Sew Impressions being embroidered.  They will be ready, hopefully by next week.

Student Planners - Students in grade 2 - 8 have received planners.  These planners were printed by The Herald Printing Company.  Your child should be bringing their planners home each night.  Depending on your child’s teacher, these need to be signed. We are promoting responsibility and accountability, not your’s, but your child’s. That being said, your child should need minimal help with their homework.  There are occasions in Math where a parent’s help may be needed, but otherwise, the homework should have been explained and your child should have asked the teacher questions if they did not understand the directions.

Peace to you and yours,

Mary Obringer

Thank You
