Dear St. Bernard Families,

The cold and wind has arrived! Please dress your children for the weather as we will continue to go outside for recess if not raining or above 20 degrees. That means snow boots, gloves, and hats or hoods.

St. Bernard will be in session Friday, December 21st to finish up the 2nd Quarter, but no busing, please transport your children.  In January, we will start school January 7th.

Accreditation Update – Our Catholic Identity goal on Human Dignity is proceeding with the students beginning a journal where they will reply to “What would you do?” situations. The teachers attended a Wounded Child presentation that was offered by Buckeye Central which helped them to focus on the social, emotional aspects of their teaching.

For our Academic Performance Goal, students have written their second sample of writing and the teachers have assessed it using the rubrics provided. Students are continuing to improve in their writing ability. The next writing sample will be completed in the 3rd Quarter.

Safety Plan – The state mandated safety plan for the school has been completed and the school is in full compliance! We continue to perform our mandated drills as required.

Recycling – We have the 2019 Recycling Schedule already! Families of Gr. 5-7, please sign up for one of these dates to help at recycling. These are Saturday mornings, 8:00 – Noon. We are paid to do this, which helps pay for our field trips. The dates are: February 2, May 4, August 3, or November 2. Send in a note or call the office and we will write you down.

SCRIP – Scrip newsletter and information is being sent home. Consider SCRIP for gifts and personal use! So easy and helps pay tuition and helps our school. We will order December 3, 10, and 17th. Thank you!

Christmas Eve Children’s Liturgy – Students will be participating as greeters, lectors, in the procession and as members of the choir.  Thank you to all who volunteered.  What a special time for your children to participate and celebrate this great feast!

Community Counseling Services, Inc. – Cindy Wallis of Community Counseling Services presented a program to students K – 8 on internet safety, digital footprint and other topics. We have partnered with Community Counseling Services to provide counseling to our students. If you are concerned about your child or if you feel they need to talk with someone, please let us know and we will send out a referral sheet to Community Counseling Services. Your child will then be seen, and you will not be charged for the service.

Peace to you and yours,

Mary Obringer

Thank You
