Dear St. Bernard Families,
Just a quick letter to let you know that we are ending the Stoller Sale on Monday and that Jacket Orders need to be in by Wednesday the 26th. If you check your child’s Progressbook you will find that their grades have been updated. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher. When it involves technology, there can be issues with calculations.
The Book Study focusing on Parenting with Love and Logic will begin on October 4th, Thursday at 7:00. Please use the Cafeteria Doors. Books are available on Amazon.
Book Study for Parents- I would like to offer an opportunity for parents to read and discuss the book Parenting with Love and Logic by Foster Cline MD and Jim Fay (https://www.loveandlogic.com/parents). I think it will build a sense of community with our parents and also delve into the style of discipline that the school itself has begun to implement. Mrs. Hancock has been the pioneer in this effort and has had some positive results. If you are interested, please call the school 419-492-2693.
Testing Make-ups will be next week.
Peace to you and yours,

7th and 8th Grade Math: We are finishing up Chapter 1 next week and the Test will be the beginning of October. There will be review and time to study the material taught over the course of the past couple of months. We will be starting a new daily work grade starting next week. They are called “Math Minutes”. Each page has 10-11 questions. The students will work on these when waiting for their time. An art project is going to be discussed using math concepts taught to hang up for the music dinner in October.
Middle School Social Studies: We are working on the first section of Chapter 1 in our new curriculum. We will have our Test in October along with a project that ties in with our lessons on Native American cultures that settled in North America.
ELA: We are finishing up our novel study of Fish in a Tree this week. Next week the students will be working on the end of the novel projects. These projects are choice based and will allow the students to choose the work that they do well at. Starting in October, we will be starting a new book which they will have pages to read every night, along with an outside of class book to read. Our spelling tests have 2 pieces. The first part is spelling words and review words. The second part is writing sentences. I grade the sentences based on the number of spelling words in them along with correct punctuation and capital letters. List 5 will be coming home on Monday and the test will be on Thursday since there is no school on Friday, September 28.
R.E.P: The students are doing an incredible job with their letter sounds. We will be adding new sounds to our list and how to work with them. Reading books by themselves, to you, or with you are great ways to help them continue working on these skills.
